Gratitude for Our Caregivers | Ninta

by | Nov 10, 2022 | Our Friends, Family & Caregivers

Ninta has been working as a caregiver since 2006 and started working for Coral Tree in 2013. She is retiring this year, and was going to return to Indonesia, but now feels that since she has bonded with her 14-month-old granddaughter, Faith, she will stay close to her.

From our side, she’s helped us many times when we had a last-minute scheduling change or request and needed someone. When we’ve been desperate, she’s always gone, always showed up. That’s a big deal in what we do. She’s also always  punctual and she’s got a very good manner. She’s patient. She smiles easily and doesn’t get phased, worrying about things that haven’t happened yet. She accepts people for who they are and takes things as they come.

She’s looked after 31 of our friends over the years. That’s a lot for one of our caregivers! And I know she still keeps in touch with one of our client’s spouses. She visits her for coffee every now and again.

Ninta shared some advice for aspirant caregivers with me:

PATIENCE is the key to caregiving. It is also a key to life.

Do not consider your work a burden. Be conscientious about it. Do not complain. Accept your circumstances.

Cooperate with your fellow caregivers who are working on the same case as you.

Develop TRUST with your client. TRUST is very important in life. If a patient trusts you their anxiety levels decline and they sleep better at night.

Thank you Ninta for all your dedication and hard work these last eight years.

Ninta was one of the primary caregivers & friends of our dear friend John Eilerston, whose service is today… John is/was an American hero… a compassionate person who deeply cared about people & strove to do the right thing, no matter what. He wasn’t just dedicated to his country — he was dedicated to the welfare of others… The type of  Catholic, who in my opinion, would make Pope Francis proud…. Our friend Father Steve is honoring John today at his service, as is my mom, and hopefully John’s family. And we will forever honor John and all people who offer their lives here at Coral Tree.
